Team
A four-person leadership team drives our work, each leading their own area of expertise.
Born in 1983. He spent his childhood and student years in New Jersey, Dubai, and the UK, and graduated from the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies (SFC) at Keio University. With over 15 years in digital product and service development, he has a broad track record across marketing, direction, and design.
At his previous company, he founded UX MILK, one of Japan's largest UX design communities, and ran it for seven years. As a media outlet, UX MILK grew to an exceptional 1.5 million page views, and its events — including the regularly held "UX JAM" — drew over 40,000 participants in total, placing it at the forefront of talent development and information sharing in the industry.
He also produced "Design Matters Tokyo," the Japanese edition of the global design conference "Design Matters," building a design industry network both in Japan and abroad.
Drawing on his experience with UX MILK and Design Matters, he launched Spectrum Tokyo in July 2022 as a space for more advanced and diverse design discourse. It gained attention as a gathering place for post-pandemic designers and grew rapidly. In July 2025, it became an independent company, spun out from its operator Flying Penguins.
Born in Hokkaido in 1988. She grew up in Massachusetts from age nine and graduated from the Fashion Design department of Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
She began her career as a retail associate for a foreign brand, then worked at an e-commerce startup and a gaming startup before joining ViViViT, Inc. There she handled marketing and content production for designer-focused job and career services, and led the launch of mid-career hiring services and recruiting businesses.
After going independent, she worked on designer-focused content production and recruiting consulting — supporting the career development of designers and creators, and producing recruiting strategies and content informed by practical experience.
She joined Spectrum Tokyo from its very beginning, taking on production, project management, content planning, interviews, writing, and more. She has led the expansion of the community and the building of its network. At the global design conference "Design Matters Tokyo," she coordinates operations as on-site staff each year, forming connections with the design industry at home and abroad.
Today, centered on her work at Spectrum Tokyo — recruiting support, content production, and community building — she continues to take on the growth of the digital design industry as a professional with a global and hands-on perspective.
Born in 1991. He spent his childhood in Texas, and graduated from ICU High School and a university in Japan. Building his career as a Business Development Manager / Specialist at companies with both domestic and overseas bases, he has contributed to business growth with a global perspective and a drive to execute.
Outside of work, he has devoted nearly ten years to the international community of the open-source CMS "WordPress." He serves as a lead organizer of both "WordCamp Tokyo," one of Japan's largest WordPress events, and "WordCamp Asia," the region's flagship event with close to 6,000 cumulative attendees.
Alongside his career in the IT industry, he also works as a freelance photographer, handling a wide range of assignments — from conferences and press conferences to promotional and product photography for companies and NPOs. He also has flexible, multifaceted skills, providing technical support and advice on online streaming to companies and organizations as it became widespread during the pandemic.
Since 2025, he has been fully involved with Spectrum Tokyo, driving business growth from many angles — strengthening existing businesses as well as developing new services and building partnerships.
